American Idol Ditches Siobahn Magnus

Siobahn Magnus was voted off American Idol on Wednesday, April 28. The American Idol voting results April 28 episode had Mike, Casey, and Siobahn within the bottom three. There was no save for her, so the contestant from Marstons Mills, Massachusetts, (an alliterative place to come from) was sent packing. She had never been in the bottom three before.

Mighty Siobahn Magnus has struck out

The bottom 3 was not usual territory for Siobahn Magnus, though she had some off nights. That’s why it was a bit of a shock. Siobahn was very easily one of the most original performers from this year's American Idol. It might are expected she wouldn’t win, but it still wasn’t expected.

Five remain

The five contestants remaining are Mike Lynche, Aaron Kelly, Lee DeWyze, Casey James and Crystal Bowersox. The guys rebounded after a girls’ year was predicted. Mike Lynche has never been out of the bottom three. Casey James has been hanging around the bottom a bit given that his rock' n 'roll shtick has been starting to wear thin. Crystal Bowersox, or Mamasox as she's been nicknamed, is apparently the hands down favored to win, and just a little quick cash on her to win would be a safe bet.

The viewer's sound off

In all fairness, Siobahn had been slipping a bit. Her version of "Any Man of Mine" by Shania Twain seemed to be a step back within the right direction, but evidently viewers had had it. She was getting a little screechy. There was no denying her power several weeks ago, as she thoroughly blasted away nearly each other competitor with "Paint it Black" on Rolling Stones week, but past performances don't matter — it's the week to week that counts. That is exactly where she fell short, and the performer on American Idol season nine that was the closest to interesting is going home.
