Elizabeth Hasselbeck’s recent comments on Erin Andrews, concerning her attire on Dancing With The Stars, have not endeared the oft-maligned “View” co-host to many. Hasselbeck made some comments to the effect that Andrews’ stalker wouldn’t have needed to invade her privacy if he could have just waited to see her outfits. Saying these remarks were a bit insensitive is an understatement. It will take more than installment loans for people with bad credit for a truckload of mouthwash to wash the taste of foot in mouth after this thing.
Elizabeth Hasselbeck and her Erin Andrews remarks
May fourth, which was a Tuesday, Elizabeth Hasselbeck said on the View that Erin Andrews’ “Dancing with the Stars” outfits were all too revealing. Rather than just saying something to the effect of “her outfits are just a little skimpy” and then moving on, she decided that she’s the fashion police and that it is acceptable to joke about the Erin Andrews peephole video incident and while everybody viewed in horror:
“as inexcusable as it was for that guy to go in and make an effort to peep on her in her hotel room … I mean, in some way if I’m him, I’m like ‘Man! I could’ve just waited 12 weeks and seen this,’ just a little bit less, without the prison time!”
(This was from the Huffington Post). I guess regardless how rich you are, you just can't purchase sense or class. Ironically, individuals within the rich class so often forget to display it.
Erin Andrews doesn't seem amused
After she appeared on Dancing with the Stars, Erin Andrews, in response to Elizabeth Hasselbeck, declared her remarks a “slap within the face to victims of stalking and sexual predators”.
Hasselbeck apologizes
Wednesday, May 5, Elizabeth Hasselbeck apologized for the remarks. She even, during the apology, teared up a bit. She does seem legitimately sorry, but some are likely to cynically assume that she’s only sorry because she got in trouble, not because she really did something wrong.
Where is the line drawn?
The fallout of Elizabeth Hasselbeck's Erin Andrews remarks will run its course and could be forgotten soon. In the grand scheme of things, she put her foot in her mouth and has realized it. A person should not be afraid to lampoon the things that deserve it, but clearly, some things go a little bit beyond the pale.
