Malcolm X Assassin Thomas Hagan Freed From Prison

On Feb. 21, 1965, civil rights leader Malcolm X was shot to death at the Audubon Ballroom in Harlem during a speaking engagement. The prime over in the shooting was Thomas Hagan despite the fact that 3 men were arrested for the crime. Hagan served 44 years for the crime. Thomas Hagan, previously known as Talmadge X Hayer or Talmadge Hayer, is 69 and was given parole after dozens of requests, and probably will need a payday loans or two for legal expenses.

Assassination of Malcolm X

In 1965 on that day, Malcolm X took the podium at the Audubon Ballroom. As he started to address the crowd, a sudden disturbance broke out. As he, and others, attempted to calm the situation, Thomas Hagan, then Talmadge Hayer, shot him in the chest with a sawed off shotgun at point blank range. He was then shot by two others with handguns. Malcolm X was pronounced dead after being shot 16 times and after arriving at the Columbia Presbyterian Hospital at 3:30. Hagan was the only person who confessed to the crime after being severely beaten by the crowd and being arrested.

The other gunmen

Two additional persons were arrested, Norman 3X Butler and Thomas 15X Johnson, now known as Muhammed Abdul Aziz and Khalil Islam, respectively. Both maintained their innocence, and Hagan has always said they had nothing to do with the crime. No instant cash into a lot more investigation could yield different results in finding out who the other gunmen were. In the mid 1980s, both of them were paroled.

The shooting is over ecumenical split

Malcolm X split from the Nation of Islam, which he had been a member of for a dozen years, in 1964. The shooting reportedly was due to tensions between himself and leader Elijah Muhammad. Hagan said that he shot him down because of that reason.

Thomas Hagan given 17th try parole

The Los Angeles Times says that Hagan has showed regret over the shooting. This was his 17th make an effort to get on parole and he was of course it. As outlined by New York Times, He is married, has a daughter, and since 1988 has been on work release, working in a fast food restaurant among other endeavors . He earned a Masters in Sociology since being in jail.
